Info:

Publication produced by an heterogeneous work team composed of an hairdresser, a photographer, a researcher, an illustrator and a graphic designer, during a workshop organized by Nicolas Polli – as part of his bachelor’s thesis at Supsi University in Lugano, Switzerland.
The theme of the book is ‘wigs’, analyzed, starting from the essay ‘Le Mimétisme animal’ by Roger Caillois, from four different points of view: mimicry, intimidation, disguise, transformation. The typography and the layout in the book are linked to the same concept of superposition of levels and mutation.

+

Info:

The typeface ‘Complicatezza’ is not a typeface, but it is more a game that allows the construction of new letters starting from already existing glyphs through the use of a common text editor tool. Using the glyphs – not including the letters of the alphabet – in the typeface set, altering the kerning and baseline values, it is possible to obtain new typefaces.

Info:

‘Barlafüss’ is a display font designed starting from two constraints: to design very black letters for titles and to keep the counterpunchs fixed when weight changes. In this way, the font has glyphs that, according to the weight, change only in width. Collectively designed font, developed during the “Advanced Typedesign” course at Cfp Bauer school in Milano.

What time do you have?

What time do you have?

+

Info:

Exercises on the conventionality of the time, conducted during the Isia Urbino / Werkplaats Typografie Summer School 2011 on the theme ‘Time and the preservation of time’. The clock time, the time by which you measure the everyday life, and an arbitrary time that varies from person to person.
Four exercises are carried out with the help of alarms present on common phones. Alarms set at the same time for all phones ring at different times with different tones, volumes, frequencies and movements. The spontaneous asynchrony of watches becomes a tool for the generation of unexpected sequences.

Autobiografia del territorio

+

Info:

Iconographic research and project proposal for the identity of Pesaro-Urbino district. A huge group of signs, icons, symbols, typography, images, logos collected during the research expressed by itself the identity of that district spontaneously, almost unconsciously. So it’s inevitable to ask to yourself, if it’s useful and necessary to design another brand-new logo.
An alphabet of signs was born from there, composed of excellent companies logos, artisanal ornamental motifs, sport teams emblems, cultural realities trademarks, territorial certification symbols, recurring aesthetic elements in the landscape, peculiar architectures and public signs, etc. In this way, the image of the territory is narrated dynamically through symbolic stimula, assimilating and systematizing them into ever-changing self-portraits of the territory.
